The Walking Dead: Isolation Preview [PHOTOS and VIDEO]

Isolation6

Everyone still reeling from last week’s super-intense episode of The Walking Dead?  I know I sure am.  Some nutjob is feeding the walkers at the prison’s fence, most of cellblock D has already been wiped out from this mysterious new virus, and to top it off, poor Tyreese is shocked to find his new love, Karen, burnt to a crisp.  With this new triple threat, aside from the Governor showing up, I don’t think things could get much worse at the prison.

But, from the previews of Sunday’s new episode, “Isolation”, it looks things are continuing to spiral out of control.  Dear Tyreese just can’t get a break because now, it appears that Sasha is infected with this new super-flu.  And, unless they can come up with an antidote soon, Sasha may be the next character death.  Of course, we should take this with a grain of salt, since “obvious” things in previews often turn out to just be teasers.

Judging from the video and photos just released by AMC, just a few random thoughts and questions:

1.  We all probably remember that scene in the Comic-Con trailer where Tyreese blindly attacks a huge herd of walkers, almost like “I don’t give a blankie-blank about anything anymore”. Well, it looks like we finally get to see that scene in this week’s episode.  Does that mean that Tyreese is heading for the chopping block?  Maybe, maybe not.  I should mention that in this scene in the comic book series, Tyreese does survive.  But, as we know from experience, the writers often try to deviate from the storylines in the comics, and so, I see it as a toss-up.

2.  Okay, where in the hell was Bob Stookey?  He’s an army medic, and so, why isn’t he helping this Indian doctor, Dr. Subramanian?  Except for one scene, he was pretty much MIA for the entire “Infected” episode, which is a little unsettling.  That being said, could it be that Bob who’s feeding the walkers or who burnt out Karen and David last week?  For those familiar with the comics, you should remember Bob Stookey as one of the Governor’s Lieutenants who ultimately defected and joined Rick’s group.  Because of that, I think a great deal of people are thinking that he’s actually working for the Governor and is only there to sabotage the prison group.  It’s certainly a possibility but remember The Walking Dead rarely runs with the obvious.

3.  In the second sneak peek, we have the scene that fans have been buzzing about for some time — the mother of all zombie hordes.  Wow.  And, we thought that the horde that overran Hershel’s farm was gigantic.  It is rumored that this herd has over 7,500 walkers, and Daryl, Bob, Tyreese and Michonne find themselves right in the middle of it.  We’ll see who makes it out of that one alive! And, actually, the last photo below gives us a hint to that.  We see Daryl, Michonne, and Bob but no sign of Tyreese, who we know had been with the other three at the time when they ran into that monster horde.  If Tyreese turns out to be the sacrificial lamb to save the rest of the group, there’s going to be a lot of upset, crying fans (myself included) come Sunday!

4.  Who do you think is the voice on the radio?  My guess is it’s Sgt. Ford.  For those who did not hear, Rick’s group will encounter another small group of survivors — Sgt. Abraham Ford (played by Southland veteran Michael Cudlitz), Dr. Eugene Porter (portrayed by Josh McDermitt) and Rosita Espinoza (Christian Serratos from Twilight) — and they will become pivotal members of the prison group as they do in the comics.  I don’t know if we’ll find out who the voice is tonight since everyone is going to be too busy trying to escape those thousands of walkers, but hopefully it will be soon.

The next episode of The Walking Dead airs Sunday night at 9/8c on AMC.
